A new pressure injury app from Veterans Affairs aims to educate veterans and caregivers about pressure injury risk and prevention.
Called “VA Pressure Ulcer/Injury Resource” (VA PUR), the app features educational tools to support nutrition management, medication reminders and physical/occupational therapy techniques. App users are encouraged to create journals to keep track of pressure injuries, and the app includes advice for skin care and protection.
A Veterans Health Administration Facebook post said, “Unique features of VA PUR include videos about skin care, repositioning and how to safely transfer from bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to bed. Veterans can also create a list of questions to ask at their next appointment with their VA care team.”
The app includes repositioning recommendations based on information from the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel.
The app is now available to download free of charge for Apple and Android devices.
