Free Form Seating
Custom contoured backrests are easily and
effectively accomplished with a Free Form
Backrest Kit. Free Form is the perfect solution
for the growing and changing postural
support needs of children. The shell can be
increased or decreased in size to accomplish
even support. The width between the lateral
supports, lumbar curve and upper thoracic
region can all be quickly and easily fitted to
the client. Free Form Back Kits are an excellent
solution for scoliosis, kyphosis, weight
fluctuations, and anyone who requires
a custom-molded backrest. Free Form is
HCPCS coded E2617 and E2609.
Strapparatus
2022 Mobility Product Award Winner: Positioning, Trunk
The Strapparatus makes shoulder harness mounting
easy. It provides versatile mounting options for
shoulder harness buckles and can also act as a strap
guide. With height and width adjustment, shoulder
harness straps can be positioned exactly where they
need to be. The slim mounting bracket can attach
to Symmetric Designs’ round, 1/2" or 15mm square
headrest hardware.
Savant Positioning
Savant Custom Moldable Gel Head
Positioning — in Adult, Small, and Pediatric
sizes — is easy to shape and fit for infants,
children or anyone needing full head
support. Soft, silicone gel-filled pads can
be positioned exactly where needed. The
breathable, quick-release forehead strap
offers anterior support. The standard Savant
has six arms of gel support, but custom
configurations are available. Temporal arm
length can be extended with additional gel
pads. A new Carbon Cover, with durable,
low-shear material, reduces friction from
head movement and can be easily wiped
with cleaning solution or disinfectant.
Free Form Seating
Free Form Seating is a custom
solution that can keep pace
with a person’s postural support
needs. As a person’s weight fluctuates,
as they need more or less
support, and as young people
grow, this seating adapts. Free
Form Seating can be changed
anywhere, at any time. Backrest
Kits come in eight sizes and
include everything needed to
make a custom-fitted support
(shell, cover, tool, hardware).
Apex Headrests
Apex Headrests are a new line of plush
wheelchair headrests available in a variety
of colors and sizes. With a streamlined and
unique design, Apex Headrests provide
a stylish head support while eliminating
zippers and Velcro. A variety of covers
is available to meet the positioning and
support needs of different users. The
aluminum shell is lightweight, durable
and can be contoured to give the desired
support. Constructed from the highest-quality materials, Apex Headrests
provide wheelchair users with an effective
and stylish head support.
Twin Headrest Hardware
Twin Headrest Mounting Hardware is truly
universal. A telescoping feature allows
fine positioning without tools. The vertical
stem is 11" (28 cm) long. Hardware can be
optioned with three functions: The Flip+
option allows hardware and headrest to easily
flip backwards, out of the way for transfers.
The Dynamic+ option provides 1" of tone
deflection through the horizontal mount for
the headrest pad. The Forward Flex option
doubles the forward reach of the hardware,
giving it 17" of reach from the backrest.
Savant Headrest
The moldable Savant provides cool, lightweight support and is easily shaped by hand. Gel pads offer a soft, customized fit. The Savant attaches to three-point hardware and can be used with the headband (included with the system) for additional anterior support. The Savant’s construction and design allow for air circulation and provide a low-profile, unobtrusive appearance. Plus, the system is easy for families to maintain and clean: Just sponge clean with soap and water, then air dry.
Apex Headrest Pads
As seen at the 2019 National Seating & Mobility Symposium: Symmetric Designs’ new Apex headrest pads use dual-layer foam and an alloy shell (with adjustable contour) to provide both comfort and support in a zipper-free design. The shell is embedded into the foam for extra “edge” protection; the foam is also easily replaceable. The amazingly lightweight Apex comes with a removable Neoprene or Startex cover, in oval or winged shapes and in multiple colors. The winged shape is reversible, so the wings can be at the top or bottom of the headrest. The winged shape is available in two sizes; the oval shape is available in four sizes.
APEX Headrest Pads
Engineered using the highest-quality materials to provide a plush, yet supportive headrest pad, the new APEX Headrest Pad line is a stylish solution for headrests with a focus on craftsmanship, simplicity and durability. The APEX line features an adjustable contour (alloy shell), dual-layer plus foam, a zipper-free design, a removable Neoprene or Dartex reversed cover; and a shell embedded into foam for edge protection. The pads are available in oval (widths of 8", 10", 12", 14") or winged (9" or 11") shapes. The winged shape can be positioned with the wings at the top or the bottom.
Free Form Custom Seating
Free Form is a custom seating system that will always fit, will always adjust and will always support, no matter how a client changes over time. Free Form Seating provides a custom wheelchair seating solution that can easily and quickly be adjusted as clients’ weight fluctuates, as they develop a need for more or less support, as young people grow, or as medical conditions change. Free Form is a true custom wheelchair seating system that can be fitted and changed anywhere and at anytime. And now it’s coded E2617.
Free Form Seating
Now HCPCS coded E2617, Free Form Seating combines customizability with ease of use and adjustability. The system allows for gradual corrective positioning and also can accommodate a client’s growth and weight fluctuations. Modules can be removed or recessed for total off-loading. The system is designed to be lightweight and breathable, while also being able to support clients with kyphosis, scoliosis, lordosis or other positioning challenges. This back can be covered with the most appropriate padding for each client, and Free Form’s design can dampen vibration and provide some dynamic movement.
Axion Rotary Interface
The Axion enables headrest
pads and head positioning
devices to rotate with the user’s head, thus
transforming static headrests into dynamic
positioning devices. Combined with the
user’s head support, the Axion allows the
head support to rotate to reduce shear forces
and improve peripheral vision. The result: Head
support that also enables the head to move horizontally.
Free Form Seating
Provide a custom-fitted backrest that can be
easily changed as the user’s postural needs
change or progress. Free Form Seating is
adaptive to give the ATP/clinician the ability
to contour the shell to the exact needs of the
user. If the user gains or loses weight or needs
more or less support, Free Form Seating can
be adjusted as necessary. It also can keep up
with changes that occur as kids grow. It’s 3D
moldable for even pressure distribution and
the ability to increase support anywhere on
the shell. Free Form Seating accommodates
kyphosis, scoliosis and other postural support
needs. Increase or decrease the size of the
laterals by adding/removing clamps.
Free Form Seating
Custom-fit a backrest that can adapt to a client’s postural needs: Free Form Seating enables the ATP to contour a shell exactly as needed. Adjusts for weight loss/gain, growth, or a need for more/less support. With a breathable, washable cover. Available in three pre-shaped sizes or full sheets to assemble into any shape.
