Permobil Connect
Permobil Connect comprehensively connects its power chairs to their users and providers. It uses an internal SIM card to communicate to the My Permobil user app and with the provider’s Fleet Management web portal, and has integrated Bluetooth to communicate with the Virtual Seating Coach app. Clients use smartphones or tablets and the My Permobil app to check on info such as battery charge and how far they’ve traveled. Providers use Permobil Connect’s maintenance feature to be proactive on service issues. Permobil Connect is standard on the M3 Corpus, M5 Corpus, F3 Corpus, F5 Corpus and F5 Corpus VS.
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2018:
The addition of Connect to Permobil chairs is a real improvement. First, the fact that part of the system does not rely on a smartphone or Bluetooth is great, as many users do not have that technology. Many manufacturers have the ability to look at chair function remotely now, but most require Bluetooth to do so.
So, the ability to do this without Bluetooth opens up the functionality to everyone who uses a wheelchair. Additionally, the fact that Virtual Seating Coach (VSC) is now free for individuals who do have smartphones or tablets is great. So many clients forget to use their power features, and they say they wish they had a reminder. This is exactly that!
Plus, for my clients who I want to drive slightly tilted to help with seating, the VSC can show them they are tilted the 10-15° I’ve recommended. VSC has been around for a while, but it was always an upcharge feature that most of my clients could not afford. So, this is a real step forward.

M1 Power Chair
Permobil
M3 Corpus
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2018:
The anterior tilt packages and Connected chair features are one of a kind, and the chair overall is unmatched in terms of quality, durability and positioning.
— Chris Bittner, ATP, Numotion
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
The integrated mouse/Bluetooth module allows mounting to the rear, which allows alternate drive clients to interact with their environment when funding sources are limited. The caster wheels’ new shape allows changing direction without a lot of unintended movement, which is crucial for an alternate drive client.
— Jeff Decker, ATP/SMS, CRTS, National Seating & Mobility
M3 is a great progression of Permobil’s mid-wheel-drive chair that users find very appealing functionally and aesthetically. The anterior tilt Active Reach options are changing the way we can view transfer solutions, and it also allows users to accomplish activities of daily living in a safer and easier way, including reaching into high cabinets and beyond obstruction.

Permobil
F5 Corpus VS
Permobil’s famous Corpus seating system offers standing functionality for the real world, including being able to stand and drive at any point of the standing sequence. Redesigned chest bar and knee blocks offer added comfort and safety while standing, along with simplified adjustment points and quick-release mechanisms. A true fully independent suspension enables the F5 Corpus VS to absorb the bumps and obstacles that active power chair users encounter every day. Updated shocks are fully adjustable while the user remains in the chair.
Permobil
TWIST
The TWIST mono-tube wheelchair features built-in growth, no new parts or growth kits required. It’s sized from 8x8" up to 15x16" and offers 2" of seat width growth and 3" of seat depth growth. The TiLite Tru-Fit system uses an infinite adjustment mechanism to fine-tune the TWIST. A center-mounted push handle option is height adjustable and enables Mom or Dad to lend a helping hand (or to remove the handle when no extra push is required). The 1" aluminum frame design allows easy installation of seating components.
Permobil
F5 Corpus VS
Described as “standing without compromise,” Permobil’s new F5 front-wheel-drive power base with the Corpus VS standing option allows the user to drive from any point of the standing sequence. A redesigned chest bar offers greater user comfort and stability while upright. The F5 Corpus VS still retains 50° of posterior tilt, 85-180° of power recline and an optional 14" of seat elevation so consumers can access the precise positioning they need to optimally function throughout the day. The power positioning options also enable the consumer to achieve the best weight-shifting positions, while enjoying improved respiration and circulation in standing mode.
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
Permobil F5 VS Group 4 power wheelchair with multiple power options including a standing feature: The reasoning behind it is it is very beneficial for specific patient diagnoses and very difficult to get funding sources to pay for them, so it gives us RTS’s purpose and cause.
— Frank Lane, ATP, CRTS, National Seating & Mobility
Permobil
Virtual Seating Coach
The effectiveness of powered seat functions depends on the power chair client using them correctly and consistently. Permobil, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, has launched the Virtual Seating Coach (VSC), designed to allow clinicians to program their seating recommendations, such as how often and far back to tilt and recline. VSC alerts clients when it’s time to reposition, tracks their compliance, and could help establish evidence for medical justification of power seat functions.
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
We know that keeping people focused on using their tilt and recline, tracking that data and reporting back to our therapists will change the face of rehab and how we do, what we do. More importantly, it will keep patients out of the hospital because they will be using the equipment properly. This tool is a vital game changer in the rehab industry. Outcomes are everything. Virtual Seating Coach is one of the best new products offered.

Permobil
TR Wheelchair
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
The fixed titanium TiLite (TR, pictured) is my go-to chair mainly with spinal cord injury (SCI) clients. There is no need for growth or major adjustment with post five-year-plus clients, so getting rid of the numerous adjustments allows for a much lighter chair and no excess wear/slop in the fixed chair from years of use. They hold up to the rigors of an active SCI client for years with little or no wear/breakage.
— Jeff Decker, ATP/SMS, CRTS, National Seating & Mobility
Permobil
F3 Corpus
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
This is (again) a game changer. This will allow users all the features of a great base that have been substantially enhanced, but it now has anterior tilt for the user for transfers, pressure relief, spasticity control, functional reach and a whole host of other considerations. Why would you not (as an ATP or therapist) consider this in your portfolio of choices?
— Joe McKnight, ATP/SMS, CRTS, Numotion
Permobil
ROHO Smart Check
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
When you feel you need a ROHO cushion under someone, but are not sure they can maintain the air in it, this is the way to go. Once the cushion is inflated properly, the patient can check inflation by simply plugging in the Smart Check, and if it is “green” the cushion is still properly inflated. If not it, will tell you to put air in or take air out.

M3 Corpus
Permobil fans might have seen this
coming when the manufacturer’s
front-wheel-drive F3 and F5 power
bases launched last year, and at the
International Seating Symposium in
March, the company made its new
mid-wheel-drive power base official.
The M3 has some familiar characteristics
to those who know the F3/F5
series, but the new arrival has plenty
more to boast about. Consider the
added stability via a unique suspension
geometry and linear spring design,
plus a patent-pending FlexLink suspension
for advanced vibration reduction. These additions enable the M3 to
achieve full suspension at any seat elevation (up to 12" of elevation available
as an option). When the seat is elevated, the seating system moves
rearward 3.5" to optimize the M3’s stability — and the M3 can drive up
to 3.2 mph at that 12" elevated height. The Corpus seating system also
offers 0-50° posterior tilt and options of 5°, 10° or 20° of anterior tilt to
promote what Permobil is calling the Active Reach positions that can
facilitate activities and transfers. The M3 Corpus has a 300-lb. weight
capacity, a maximum speed of 6 mph, seat-to-floor heights starting at
17.5", and 85-120° (manual) or 85-180° (power) recline.
Permobil
M3
Permobil’s new mid-wheel-drive power
base, launching at ISS, will feel familiar to
those who know the manufacturer’s front-wheel-drive F3 and F5. The M3 offers 50° of
posterior tilt that’s twice as fast as its predecessor,
and has 12" of seat elevation that’s 50
percent faster. But the M3 also offers anterior
tilt to facilitate a critical function that
Permobil calls Active Reach, used in everyday
situations ranging from leaning forward
during mealtimes to facilitating transfers.
Consumers who like the maneuverability of
mid-wheel drive can now enjoy even greater
positioning options.
Permobil
F5 Corpus
Permobil’s new front-wheel-drive F5 Corpus
boasts a smaller footprint with an improved
center of gravity, a more rigid chassis, fully
independent oil-dampened suspension and a
lower seat-to-floor height. A new three-point
tilt and seat elevator system provides solid
stability and performance. Corpus seating
offers 14" of seat elevation and anterior/posterior
tilt. Optional anterior tilt is available in 10°,
20° and 45° to facilitate transfers and reaching,
while maintaining 50° of posterior tilt. The new
Corpus system retains favorite features, such
as arc legrests, an open armrest design, and
UniTrack System.

Permobil
M300 Corpus HD
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2016:
This heavy-duty power wheelchair [was] designed specifically for
users up to 450 lbs. The M300 base is highly maneuverable and
has been both extended and widened for the HD model, while
the suspension has been strengthened for an overall more stable
platform.
Permobil
F3 Corpus
This front-wheel-drive redesign features a lower, repositioned center of gravity to greatly improve stability when navigating inclines or declines. Plus a fully independent suspension provides a comfortable, dependable ride. New Corpus Seating includes 12" seat elevation and an A/P tilt function for optional 5°, 10°, 20° or 30° of anterior tilt while maintaining 50° of posterior tilt. The Corpus system also offers 85-170° elevating legrests and 180° of power recline. The F3 is shown here without anti-tippers.

Anterior Tilt (F3/F5 Power Bases)
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2015:
Anterior tilt as a power seat function has had limited availability in the industry and is not currently coded under the PDAC coding system. Despite these things, anterior tilt can provide exceptional benefits to wheelchair users both functionally and physiologically. For some, just a small change in orientation anteriorly can effectively manage tone and abnormal reflexes, which can often interfere with function. In addition, small amounts of anterior tilt lowers front seat-to-floor height and can be the difference between getting under a table/desk or being limited by the lower extremities. Many power wheelchair users would be able to use anterior tilt to assist with functional reach, making the user independent with performing mobility-related ADLs including self-care, hygiene, cooking, cleaning, laundry and much more! It is amazing how much access is improved with just 20° of anterior tilt! Even further, there are individuals who need to transfer out of their power wheelchair, but just don’t have the strength to do so. The 45° stand-pivot transfer package is ideal to assist with this task — making transfers much easier and allowing them to be performed independently.
Permobil
F3 & F5 Power Bases
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2015:
I have to give it to Permobil for their new F5 and F3 platforms. The new system really is well done. I think the fact that all configurations will eventually be done off of the same platform is pretty impressive. My clients who have seen the bases are impressed by the styling as well. I can’t wait to have them try it out in the clinic.
