SofTech Cushion
This automatic, self-contained alternating
wheelchair seat cushion system operates similarly
to an alternating mattress and can perform
posterior pressure relief for a wheelchair user
up to 60 times an hour. The battery-operated
system, electronics and pump are integrated
into the cushion base for a clean, streamlined
appearance and ease of function and use. Each
SofTech cushion is customized specifically for
its user based on the client’s unique needs and
on the locations of any current pressure injuries
the client has.

Stimulite Contoured
The Stimulite Contoured Pediatric
Cushion has a soft top layer
fused to a firmer bottom layer of
honeycomb for positioning and
comfort. Adductors, abductors
and an ischial dish position the
child, while soft honeycomb
cells keep him/her in place. The
cushion is available in sizes 10x10",
12x12" and 14x14", and it’s naturally
antimicrobial and machine
washable.
JUNIOR Cushions Backs
The JUNIOR line of seat cushions
and back supports was designed
especially for active kids, using
anthropometric data to develop
lightweight, streamlined seating
solutions. The lineup includes a
10x10" seat cushion, plus 10" back
supports (for 9-11" chairs) in mid
or deep configurations and with
pediatric-specific VariLock hardware.

JAY GS Cushion
The JAY GS isn’t a new cushion, but if you haven’t taken a look at it lately, you could be missing out on a number of enhancements. That includes new functionalities and adjustable skin protection/positioning coding (E2622 and E2624). The foam base with a large well cutout seats younger users at the front of the cushion to start. As kids and young adults grow, shelf extensions can be added to increase the JAY GS’s front length and offer additional support for longer leg lengths. A wide range of positioning components keeps users well supported as they grow. The X-STATIC fabric stretch cover inhibits bacterial growth, while 3DX spacer fabric facilitates good airflow.

Stabil-Air Cushion
As Seen at ISS: Is this the best of both worlds? Star Cushion’s new Stabil-Air features contoured foam that resides inside each of the cushion’s air cells. The contoured foam is shorter in areas where the user’s legs, buttocks and coccyx interface with the cushion. Taller foam structures are contained in the air cells closer to the cushion’s perimeter. The foam provides stability and facilitates transfers, while also ensuring the user doesn’t ever fully bottom out, even if the cushion loses air. The Stabil-Air is available in four sizes — single-valve/adjustable skin protection in widths greater than and less than 22", plus dual- and quad-valve models with adjustable skin protection and widths greater than and less than 22".

JAY GS
With built-in growth, the JAY GS is designed for kids at risk for skin breakdown who need higherlevel positioning. It’s available in 10", 12", 14", 16" and 18" widths and has a contoured, closed-cell foam base that’s easy to modify. Multiple Pelvic Loading Area inserts attach with Velcro. Features conforming JAY Flow Fluid.
Ride Designs
Soft Fit Option
Thanks to input from seating professionals, Ride Design is now offering a “Soft Fit” option for its Custom cushions. Traditionally, the Custom cushion has had a single layer of spacer mesh fabric. But because clinicians and ATPs wanted a Custom cushion feel that’s more comparable to Ride’s Java cushion, the company now has a Soft Fit option consisting of two layers of spacer fabric (whose vertically oriented fibers help wick away moisture) with cutouts for the ischial tuberosities. That provides increased softness and comfort at the loading contours, but with a functionally deepening well to improve offloading. A third layer of spacer fabric on top of the first two layers completes the Soft Fit.

Stimulite Slimline XS Cushion
With a mild contour and profile, Supracor’s Stimulite Slimline cushion is designed for active wheelchair users. Thanks to its two-layer honeycomb construction, the cushion is machine washable and lightweight. Honeycomb cells flex with movement to reduce shear forces, and the interconnected, open-cell design distributes weight evenly while allowing air movement to promote moisture evaporation.

Custom Cushion
Capable of being built to almost any size, Ride’s Custom cushion is made of a Brock composite material that enables air to circulate to keep skin drier. The cushion offloads at-risk bony prominences and redistributes sitting forces to areas that can tolerate more weight. The result is a higher level of postural control, plus superior skin protection. The E2609 cushion weighs about 3 lbs.

APK2
Think of an alternating mattress, and you get the idea behind the APK2 cushion, a fully automatic alternating system. All areas of the posterior experience redistribution of pressure as often as 60 times per hour to lower the risk of pressure-related skin breakdown. The battery-operated cushion runs for more than 40 hours on a single charge, and every unit is hand-made to the client’s personalized needs — including the locations of current pressure ulcers.
