Serving the Seating & Wheeled Mobility Professional
The moldable Savant provides cool, lightweight support and is easily shaped by hand. Gel pads offer a soft, customized fit. The Savant attaches to three-point hardware and can be used with the headband (included with the system) for additional anterior support. The Savant’s construction and design allow for air circulation and provide a low-profile, unobtrusive appearance. Plus, the system is easy for families to maintain and clean: Just sponge clean with soap and water, then air dry.
For wheelchair users looking for an accurately fit custom seating solution with a softer, more forgiving sitting surface, Ride Designs introduces the Custom AccuSoft. It’s made specifically to match each user’s shape. Ride CAM Wedges can be used to adjust cushion contours to accommodate weight changes, tissue atrophy and postural changes. Choose from soft or extra soft foam. The Custom Accusoft has an inner incontinence-proof cover and an outer breathable spacer mesh fabric cover that promotes airflow. The Custom Accusoft is coded E2609 and can be built to virtually any size needed.
When adjustability is critical, this custom-molded back from Matrix Seating answers the call. The Micro-Modular Seating insert is capable of unlimited adjustments after the shape has been formed, and without requiring a heat gun. The back includes a removable shell, and its see-through insert design confirms contact between the user and the seat. A proprietary open-cell foam is soft to the touch, but maintains appropriate positioning, breathability and pressure relief. Coded E2617, the back has a breathable cover to reduce moisture.
For moderate to complex needs, the QUICKIE Q700 M with SEDEO PRO seating combines a highly adjustable seat frame with a broad choice of support and positioning options. Truly modular SEDEO PRO seating is ideal for changing conditions and can be easily customized to suit individual requirements. Most adjustments can be easily made using just one tool, included on the chair. Choose from four backrest options and a full array of legrest options. Among the power elevating legrest options, the SEDEO PRO offers multiple selections for maximum comfort and positioning needs.
The SuperShape Back Support is designed to provide postural integrity, pressure relief and comfort, even to users with very complex postural needs. The back’s extreme contouring makes it capable of applying surface contact with the user’s body, while being able to accommodate many different trunk shapes. The padded molding structure is composed of a three-layered Spex cube contouring substrate; the best result is achieved by creating areas of greater or lesser support with the adjustment of the multiple layered, padded pocket cells. The SuperShape can also adapt to a user’s changing postural needs.
As seen at the 2019 International Seating Symposium: Designed by power chair user Joe Olson, who holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science & Technology from the University of Pittsburgh, the Ergo Joystick fits onto a standard joystick handle and can replace traditional goalpost-style handles. Ergo Joysticks are 3D printed to fit the palms of their users. These handles provide a comfortable platform that makes driving intuitive and instinctive, and much less tiring for users with weakened or impaired hand function. Choose from three styles: the Panther supports the weight of the forearm and hand on the pads of the user’s palm. The Stingray conforms to the user’s palm and is designed to be most comfortable when the power chair is being driven forward. The Aero uses an arching, supportive design and is most effective for users with unique hand shapes. Ergo Joysticks are available in a range of colors and can be further customized with users’ names or other designs.
As seen at the 2019 National Seating & Mobility Symposium: Symmetric Designs’ new Apex headrest pads use dual-layer foam and an alloy shell (with adjustable contour) to provide both comfort and support in a zipper-free design. The shell is embedded into the foam for extra “edge” protection; the foam is also easily replaceable. The amazingly lightweight Apex comes with a removable Neoprene or Startex cover, in oval or winged shapes and in multiple colors. The winged shape is reversible, so the wings can be at the top or bottom of the headrest. The winged shape is available in two sizes; the oval shape is available in four sizes.
As seen at the 2019 International Seating Symposium: Place and keep chest and shoulder harnesses exactly where you want them. Bodypoint’s new Shoulder Harness Strap Guides provide a customized fit, even on low or contoured backrests. Elevate the mounting position of top straps to achieve the ideal angle for more even pressure distribution over the shoulder. The guides feature super-strong spring steel that absorbs shock to prevent damage to the back; integrated holes allow easy harness attachment, no extra drilling needed. Long mounting slots accommodate a range of backrests and offer greater adjustability. Optional Mounting Adapters (lower photo) enable the use of existing headrest holes to minimize the need for drilling and to make fine-tuning the fit easy and convenient. Strap guides and Mounting Adapters are each available in two sizes.
As seen at the 2019 National Seating & Mobility Symposium: Stealth Products continues to expand its seat cushion offerings. Introducing the Glacial SP (for “Skin Protection”), a cushion with a contoured, high-density molded foam base. It features a soft gel top layer for skin protection, while the cushion contour provides coccyx and sacral relief. A cushion cover with Coolcore technology — to keep users cooler in warm temperatures and warm in cooler weather — comes standard. Optional mesh and Stealth Tek covers are also available. The Glacial is available in seat widths from 10" to 24" and seat depths from 10" to 24". This cushion is the latest addition to Stealth’s growing line of Coolcore-covered cushions to meet the requirements of wheelchair users with complex needs.
As seen at the 2019 International Seating Symposium: Give your littlest power wheelchair users support right where they need it. The new Matrx Mini Flex is adjustable in width to fit Mini backs 10" to 14" wide. A keyhole design enables ease of application. Stretch Neoprene makes the Mini Flex comfortable and functional for active kids. Choose the Mini Flex in size XS (4.5" high) or size S (6" high).
