Motion Composites
Helio Manual Wheelchair
An ATP & Clinician Best Pick of 2017:
The Motion Composites Helio line is great in that with just changing the center brace, you can have a heavy-duty weight capacity of 350 lbs. with no additional weight of the chair. The chair already is the lightest K0005 I’ve ever used, so having an ultralight heavy-duty unit is nice. Also, the parts compatibility is really good across the Helio line. The carbon upgrade is competitive with titanium upgrades of other chairs, but cuts a huge amount of weight from an already light chair. This material is a game changer for weight: Titanium wasn’t really any lighter than the newest aluminums, but carbon is way lighter.

Quickie 2
Sunrise Medical’s new
Quickie 2 has shed 2
lbs. from its 7000-series
aerospace aluminum
frame, making it Quickie’s
lightest folding model to
date. The stronger frame
results in an increased
weight capacity of 300
lbs. standard, and 350
lbs. for the heavy-duty
version. The new Quickie 2 also features a versatile axle plate and modern
wheels, caster housing and upholstery. Its adjustable cross brace translates
into more than a thousand component configurations. Push handles
are adjustable, and Q-Fit technology ensures a tighter component fit.
Options include a hemi frame depth adjustable back, an angle-adjustable
back and the Quickie Xtender power-assist system — not to
mention 28 color choices. Lite and High-Performance Quickie 2 versions
are also available.
Invacare Corporation
Küschall Ultralights
Invacare Corp. officially
relaunched the Küschall
product line to the United
States during March’s
International Seating
Symposium in Nashville
— founder Rainer Küschall
himself was on hand for the introduction. The first arrivals are the
K-Series Attract, the Champion and the Advance. Invacare is billing
the rigid K-SERIES as a versatile and configurable everyday chair
that can accommodate all types of users. The CHAMPION (pictured)
is foldable in a single motion, including its footrest, while being
engineered for greater “rigid-esque” stability in its ride. The Advance
offers the opportunity to swap out the front frame via a quickrelease
option for environments or tasks that require a more compact
footprint. The Küschall chairs become Invacare’s premium offerings in
the ultralightweight space; each chair is handcrafted in Switzerland
to meet its user’s specifications.

QX/QXi Folding Series
Quickie’s new QX/QXi manual folding chair
is available with a vertically adjustable
axle plate to fit the K0004 HCPCS code
(seen here as the black-framed QX),
and with both vertical and horizontal
adjustability to meet the
requirements of the K0005 code
(seen here as the blue QXi).
Making axle plate adjustments
is quick (less than a minute)
and easy; a single tool is used to
fine tune center of gravity, seat-to-floor height, back
height and axle camber and spacing. A three-arm
cross brace inside the frame provides a more
rigid ride, and Quickie options — including
armrests, wheels, tires and casters —
enable clinicians and ATPs to find the
optimal configuration for every client.
Invacare Corporation
MyOn HC
By offering virtually unlimited configurations, the
new MyOn HC manual wheelchair can be especially
beneficial to newly injured clients, who may need
to adjust their mobility systems as their abilities
change. Despite that adjustability, the MyOn HC
remains easy to fine tune (with a single tool as the
user stays seated in the chair) and easy to store,
thanks to a patented H-frame folding
mechanism that can be operated
with one hand. That folding design
also locks the side frames when the
MyOn HC is in use to provide optimal
stability and performance.

7 Series
7000 series aerospace aluminum,
heat treated using ShapeLoc
technology, is at the heart of
the new 7 Series’ ultralightweight
frame that has thinner,
lighter-weight tubing along with
increased strength. The 7R allows
quick back-angle adjustments
throughout the day, while the
7RS has a fully rigid backrest
