H.R. 3790, the bill that would repeal competitive bidding for Medicare-purchased DMEPOS, now has 203 co-sponsors, according to an American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) bulletin sent out April 15.
Support for Rep. Kendrick Meek’s (D-Fla.) bill is described as bipartisan and includes representatives from throughout the country. But AAHomecare reminded members that much work still needs to be done.
Specifically, the bill needs to be part of a “legislative vehicle” that will go to the House floor for a vote. AAHomecare suggested the physician payment bill, commonly referred to as the “doc fix,” might be the best opportunity for that to happen.
AAHomecare says it is also working to introduce a companion bill in the Senate and is asking for input from industry members whose senators have expressed support for the Meeks bill in the past.
