The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) has introduced multimedia tools to help advocate for the power of home care during November.
AAHomecare’s assets for the month include infographics with statistics about the benefits of home-based care; social media posts and images, and video testimonials from consumers who use home medical equipment (HME), including Complex Rehab Technology.
One of the videos on AAHomecare’s website is narrated by Mark, diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in early 2021. In explaining the benefits of his power wheelchair with power seating, including seat elevation, Mark said, “People forget you’re in a chair. … They forget you have a disability.”
He added that CRT and HME provide returns on investment, such as taxable income, because they enable him to continue in his career and thus to create jobs for others.
The video library also features videos aimed at public awareness, education, and legislative and payer advocacy.
The website also included brochures with information that can be shared with lawmakers, funding sources, referral sources, consumers and caregivers.
November is also National Family Caregivers and National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.
