The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) has renamed an industry award to honor the late Van Miller.
In an Oct. 5 bulletin, the association said its Homecare Champion Award would now be known as the Van Miller Homecare Champion Award.
Miller, founder of The VGM Group, won the award in 2012. The award is presented annually for outstanding service to the home medical equipment industry.
Miller passed away in October 2015. In addition to creating the VGM member services organization, Miller served on AAHomecare’s board of directors and was known as a passionate industry advocate.
AAHomecare CEO/President Tom Ryan said in a news announcement, “Van had the foresight and drive to create more than just his own successful company. Instead, he helped build hundreds of flourishing companies that are essential lifelines to patients all over the [country]. It is with great respect for this leader in the industry that we rename this award in his honor.”
The first Van Miller Homecare Champion award will be presented at AAHomecare’s Stand Up for Homecare reception on Nov. 1 in Atlanta, as part of the Medtrade event.
