Adjustable Cushions Out of NCB Round 2

January 18, 2012 by Laurie Watanabe

As the clock continues to tick on Medicare’s second round of national competitive bidding – the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will open the 60-day bidding window on Jan. 30 – CMS continued to tweak program details.

Key to this segment: CMS has removed four adjustable seat cushion codes from the standard wheelchairs product category.

The codes eliminated from round 2 are as follows:

E2622: Skin protection wheelchair seat cushion, adjustable, width less than 22″, any depth.

E2623: Skin protection wheelchair seat cushion, adjustable, width 22″ or greater, any depth.

E2624: Skin protection and positioning wheelchair seat cushion, adjustable, width less than 22″, any depth.

E2625: Skin protection and positioning wheelchair seat cushion, adjustable, width 22″ or greater, any depth.

The Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) deleted the excluded codes from the CBIC Web site (dmecompetitivebid.com).
