Alpine Home Medical Equipment has donated a lift chair and bath safety equipment to a Salt Lake City family at the center of a home makeover.
A Utah charity called Heart to Home organized the effort to build a new home in two weeks for the Smeltzer family. David Smeltzer and his daughter Breann both have a rare medical condition called leukoencephalopathy, described as similar to multiple sclerosis, but more quickly debilitating. David will use the lift chair for sleeping, and the bath safety equipment will be used in David and Breann’s bathrooms.
Alpine reports that David had slept in the same reclining chair for more than a decade and that the padding had worn down to the wooden frame at the time that the Utah supplier made the donations.
