Altimate Medical Buys Medical Positioning Inc.

July 7, 2015 by Laurie Watanabe

Altimate Medical, manufacturer of standing frames for children and adults, has acquired Medical Positioning Inc. (MPI), a company that designs and manufactures tables and equipment used for diagnostic imaging.

The deal was announced July 2. In its news announcement, Altimate Medical said MPI would function as “a stand-alone branch of Altimate” and would continue to operate from its current Kansas City, Mo., location.

“We are excited to welcome MPI’s management and employees to the Altimate team,” Altimate CEO Todd Tholkes said in a statement. “MPI has an outstanding brand reputation for products that deliver superior ergonomics and more efficient patient positioning, and joining forces enables both businesses to leverage our shared expertise to deliver a broader range of medical positioning equipment to customers worldwide.”

MPI equipment is used for positioning patients during diagnostic imaging and is designed for cardiology, general ultrasound and women’s healthcare applications. The beds and tables feature versatile and flexible positioning options, from Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positions to table elevation, tilt and recline, to support the needs of patients and imaging professionals.
