Altimate Medical Celebrates 20 Years of EasyStand

September 1, 2009 by Mobility Management

Alan Tholkes used a standing frame during rehab for a C6-7 spinal cord injury, but couldn’t find a suitable frame after he was discharged.

Tholkes’ search led him to create Altimate Medical, which originally manufactured manual wheelchairs. But in September 1989, the first EasyStand standing frame was sold – and Altimate this month is celebrating two decades of bringing the many benefits of standing to clients of all ages.

According to a news release on the milestone anniversary, some 50,000 adults and children have used EasyStand products. Standing regimens have been shown to benefit clients with a wide range of conditions, from cerebral palsy to muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injuries.

The Morton, Minn.-based manufacturer is posting customer stories and videos to its Web site (www.easystand.com) this month.
