Amysystems Announces Acquisition Ahead of Expansion

July 2, 2017 by Laurie Watanabe

Amysystems has announced an acquisition along with plans for an upcoming expansion due to take place through the rest of the year.

Rob Travers, Amysystems’ VP of sales and marketing, said the power wheelchair and seating manufacturer headquartered in Dorion, Quebec, recently acquired Continent Globe, also based in Quebec.

“They are a local DME company that distributes walking aids and many generic wheelchair parts, including batteries used in scooters and power wheelchairs,” Travers told Mobility Management.

Travers said Continent Globe was preparing multiple new product introductions this year, but that the highlight would be a new wheelchair seat cushion.

“The CG Air is a new cushion that offers all the benefits when compared to existing air therapy cushions, but brings about innovative design features as solutions to the flaws that plague the known technology,” Travers said. “We’re very excited to work with such a dynamic team and even more exited to add another core product with an ‘out of the box’ design. That’s what we do best.”

Continent Globe was established in 1996, and at first specialized in supplying folding aluminum walkers. Over time, the company expanded its product lines to include walking aids and wheelchair replacement parts nationwide.

Of Amysystems’ future plans, Travers said the manufacturer “will start focusing on integrating these new Continent Globe products in the United States on a gradual basis throughout the year.”
