Competitive Bidding & the Proposed Rehab Carveout: The Controversy, the Statements & the Impact on Power Mobility
Having recently emerged from the processes of receiving new coverage criteria, HCPCS codes and allowables, and new manufacturer testing requirements, the power mobility segment seemed to be settling down. In recent months, competitive bidding and accreditation had taken over much of the spotlight, as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced accreditation deadlines and the general geographical areas to be included in the second round of competitive bidding.

But just when you thought it was safe…there came an e-mail with a Scooter Store address. Then manufacturer reactions, followed by industry association and provider reactions. And suddenly, power mobility funding and policy were once again the hottest topics in conference rooms and around water coolers throughout the industry.
