Focus Is on Funding, Legislation & Policy as Mobility/Rehab Prods Head to Vegas

Are you packing your bags to head out to Medtrade Spring? If you haven't already booked your Las Vegas flights and hotel rooms for April 24-26, consider the many benefits this event has to offer.

More than 470 exhibitors ù of which 122 are participating for the first time ù will be on hand to show off the latest technology, services and new products available to mobility dealers and rehab technology suppliers.

"The increased number of exhibitors, particularly those who are exhibiting for the first time, demonstrates innovation is on an upward spiral in the home health care industry," says Elizabeth Sommerville, group show director.

But products aren't the only stars of the show. This year's show ramps up educational opportunities with seminars that focus on business solutions to improve efficiencies in today's turbulent reimbursement environment.

The lineup of educational sessions includes topics such as accreditation, business operations, information technology, legislative and regulatory issues, mergers and acquisitions, rehabilitation and assistive technology, reimbursement and sales/marketing. Sessions begin on Tuesday, April 24, the day before the exhibit hall opens, and run throughout the next two days.

Among educational must-sees are sessions dealing with accreditation and choosing which accrediting organization would work best for your particular business, now that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released its final competitive bidding rule and confirmed that all participating suppliers will need to be accredited or in the accrediting process to win bids.

Speaking of CMS, there will be a DME MAC/Medicare update at a Thursday, April 26, session from 11 a.m. to noon.

In addition to the Medtrade conference program, this year's program will once again offer two pre-show conferences on Tuesday, April 24. The Continuum of Care and the Medtrade Reimbursement conferences will take place from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mobility Management is the official sponsor of the Re/hab & Assistive Technology Track of the Continuum of Care.

Also on the agenda is the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) Washington Update, an industry legislative update that always draws a crowd. This year's Update is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25.
