Bruno's Stow-Away Wins BizTimes Award

The Stow-Away, a powered transfer seat that mounts on the outside of pickup trucks and taller SUVs, has won a BizTimes Milwaukee Innovation Quotient (IQ) award for its manufacturer, Bruno Independent Living Aids.

BizTimes, an industry publication focusing on privately held businesses in southeastern Wisconsin, says its IQ Awards "honor southeastern Wisconsin companies that are generating innovative products, services or processes. The companies must be based in Wisconsin and have a physical presence in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Sheboygan, Racine, Walworth or Kenosha County."

In a release announcing the IQ Award, Bruno Marketing Services Manager Mike Krawczyk described the Stow-Away as "designed to provide the easiest possible access to the driver's seat or front passenger seat for individuals who utilize personal mobility devices."

Among Stow-Away's pluses: It allows retention of all the original seat functionality and has a passenger weight capacity of 300 lbs. The seat emerges from its storage compartment outside the vehicle and rises to the desired height to facilitate transfers, then returns to its storage compartment afterward.
