A new Medicare change report - CR 6854 - clarifies when changes to DMEPOS surety bonds must be reported to the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC).
A Medicare Learning Network (MLN) bulletin says a DME supplier "must submit an addendum to the existing bond - or, if the supplier prefers, a new bond - to the NSC" if there is a change in bond terms; if there is a change in bond amount; or if a location on a bond covering multiple non-chain locations is being added or deleted.
Also, the surety is required to notify NSC if "there is a lapse in the surety's coverage of the DMEPOS supplier."
