Drive Medical has acquired ActiveCare Medical, manufacturer and distributor of power chairs, scooters, walkers and other patient aids.
An announcement about the acquisition indicated that ActiveCare will be a division of Drive Medical (drivemedical.com), with ActiveCare President Steve Neese maintaining his position and heading Drive Medical's power mobility product category.
Neese called the acquisition "the next logical step in our growth. We pride ourselves on offering solutions to our customers and by providing innovative products with world-class service levels. With Drive Medical's significant distribution capabilities and resources, ActiveCare (activecaremedical.com) will be able to expand its business across North America."
Harvey Diamond, Drive Medical's chairman/CEO, said, "We are pleased to add ActiveCare to the Drive family. Their focus on product development, building value into their products and depth of manufacturing in power mobility is a perfect fit and complement to our existing portfolio of power products."
ActiveCare, with principal operations in South Carolina, has a product portfolio that includes the rear-wheel-drive Medalist power chair; Prowler heavy-duty scooter; and Cobalt X23, a lightweight, transportable power chair.
Drive Medical manufactures a wide range of durable medical equipment, including mobility vehicles, beds, sleep surfaces and bariatric products. Its lineup includes Wenzelite Re/hab, which specializes in pediatric seating, positioning, standing and walking products.
