Comfort Company & PDG Announce Partnership

The Comfort Company and PDG Mobility have announced a new partnership that will include sharing distribution of their seating, positioning and mobility products.

Last week at Medtrade in Atlanta, the manufacturers announced that going forward, PDG wheelchair sales in the United States would be handled exclusively by The Comfort Company (

In addition, "PDG will begin offering Comfort Company seating & positioning products as part of their product offering," The Comfort Company said in a news announcement.

The Comfort Company - manufacturer of seating & positioning products - is based in Bozeman, Mont. PDG ( - best known for manual tilt-in-space systems, as well as bariatric manual chairs - is based in Vancouver, B.C., with additional offices in Blaine, Wash.

Comfort Company President Rick Remitz said in the announcement, "We've been on the lookout for a wheelchair company that could feature our products for the past five years, but had to be very careful with our final decision. We were holding out for that perfect fit with a company that possessed similar qualities and principles to our own. We had our eye on PDG from the start, and finally, the timing was right for both of us."

In a letter to Comfort Company customers, Comfort Company VP of Sales Evans Innes said, "PDG wheelchair orders will continue to be sent direct to PDG's Customer Service Department, but now customers will also have the opportunity to order select Comfort Company products via PDG's newly revised spec sheet."

The manufacturers emphasized that this partnership was not a merger or an acquisition, but rather a "strategic alliance."

PDG President Louis Belanger said, "This is a good partnership for both companies, and we are looking forward to working together. We feel the greatest benefit will be those most important to both our companies, our customers."
