PECOS Allows Electronic Signatures for Enrollment Applications

Medicare's Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) now accepts electronic signatures from providers who need to sign their Medicare enrollment applications, according to notices sent by DME MACs last week.

The news release about the new PECOS functionality emphasized that the new feature does not affect who is required to sign the application.

Authorized officials at the organization seeking enrollment will be e-mailed instructions on how to electronically sign their applications. Participating suppliers were advised to make sure their e-mail systems accept Medicare e-mails and to check spam filters to ensure PECOS messages are being correctly received.
