Tholkes has been with Altimate since the company’s inception in 1987 and has held leadership positions for his entire 32-year tenure.
He will remain on Altimate Medical’s board.
“I felt the timing was right, as our company is well positioned for continued growth,” Tholkes said in the news announcement. “I am confident that Paul, who has proven leadership experience and the commercialization expertise, will lead this company forward into the next chapter.”
Paul Hickey’s résumé includes more than 25 years in the medical device industry. He’s held leadership roles in marketing, research and development, clinical divisions, and reimbursement.
Most recently, Hickey was President/CEO of Vertebral Technologies, a company that manufactures modular spinal implants. He serves on the board of directors for Excelen Center for Bone & Joint Research and Education, an independent, nonprofit research and education organization that supports and educates orthopaedic researchers seeking to develop surgical and rehabilitative techniques.
“I am very impressed with AMHI’s accomplishments and their global leadership position in standing devices,” Hickey said in the announcement. “The future looks very promising with tremendous opportunity for growth from our new product pipeline and potential partnerships.”
AMHI includes Altimate Medical, ActiveAid, and Medical Positioning Inc.
