Sunrise Medical Partners with Team Gleason

Sunrise Medical has partnered with Team Gleason to bring greater function and independence to people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

In a March 10 news announcement, Sunrise Medical said it will be donating power wheelchair seat elevation systems to wheelchair users who have ALS, have submitted seat elevation grant applications to Team Gleason, and have had their grant applications approved.

Power wheelchair users who want to apply for a seat elevator grant can fill out a form on the Team Gleason Web site: www.teamgleason.org/need-assistance.

Pete Coburn, Sunrise’s President of U.S. Commercial Operations, said in the announcement, “Partnering with Team Gleason allows Sunrise Medical to expand our focus on ‘Improving People’s Lives.’ We are committed to providing innovative, high-quality mobility products to improve the independence of individuals who use power wheelchairs.”

Blair Casey, Assistant Executive Director of Team Gleason, said, “We are very excited to begin working with Sunrise Medical. To put it simply, our work would not be possible without the support of our partners. This collaboration will allow our team to continue meeting the extraordinary needs of the ALS community by providing products that enhance greater independence and mobility.”

Team Gleason was founded by former professional football player Steve Gleason, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. The foundation supports people living with ALS and advocates for the development of technology, such as eye-gaze power wheelchair controls, that can be helpful to the ALS community.
