Numotion has a new Chief Medical Officer.
In an April news announcement, the national Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) provider said it has hired Tara Kersten, M.D., “to provide strategic clinical advice, support advocacy efforts, and lend her expertise to outcomes studies.”
In her new role, Kersten “will also help educate and interact with clinicians and referral sources and help ensure Numotion’s interactions with clinicians, referrals, payors, regulators, and government bodies are grounded in sound clinical research and expertise,” the announcement added.
Kersten is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, as well as Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She practices in Milwaukee at Advocate Aurora Health and has focused on electrodiagnostic testing, spasticity management, and custom wheelchair seating.
The announcement added that Kersten will continue to run the interdisciplinary wheelchair seating clinic that she has operated for the last five years.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such an awesome group of people who share my passion for improving the quality of life and functional independence of patients across this country,” Kersten said in the announcement. “I have had the opportunity to work with Numotion ATPs in my interdisciplinary wheelchair seating clinic in Southeast Wisconsin, on legislative efforts to improve access to CRT for patients in Wisconsin, on educational programs for physical and occupational therapists, and through medical mission work on the annual Guatemala trip. I am looking forward to expanding my work with Numotion on a national level.”
Mike Swinford, Numotion’s CEO, said of the appointment, “We are excited to welcome Dr. Kersten. She is uniquely positioned to help the company become an ever-more-essential partner to our customers, physicians, and referral partners, and we will greatly benefit from her clinical experience in the CRT industry.”
