Patients who are terminally ill experience changes to their skin. What are those changes like? Should they be referred to as pressure injuries? Or would another term be more accurate?
A special event hosted by the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) will focus on those questions in a conference titled, “Unavoidable Skin Changes at the End of Life,” taking place in November.
The two-day conference will examine “the known trajectory of skin changes in dying patients,” as well as discuss clinical characteristics and terminology. Presenters include clinicians who have seen skin changes in terminally ill patients.
The event is scheduled for Nov. 19-20 at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. Participants can register to attend in person or virtually. Registration opened Sept. 13.
