The National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) has introduced a grant program to fund research related to pressure injuries.
In a Jan. 26 announcement, the NPIAP suggested the grants could be used “to provide funding for small research projects such as pilot studies,” and added that grant proposals “must address one of the NPIAP research priorities.”
Those priorities are pressure injury morphology and/or diagnostic accuracy; nutrition; current general and clinical issues for understudied populations, diseases and conditions that make patients vulnerable to pressure injury formation; support surfaces; and refining criteria for the unavoidable vs. avoidable, end-of-life ulcers and skin failure.
The award amount is $5,000. The submission deadline is June 30, 2022, with award announcements made Sept. 30, 2022.
On Feb. 7, the NPIAP announced that its 2022 annual conference will be held in-person (in Tampa, Fla.) and virtually, March 17-18. The theme of this year’s conference is “Quality Approaches to Complex Problems.”
