Motion Acquires Sage Seniors’ Resources in Saskatoon

Motion has expanded again by acquiring Sage Seniors’ Resources in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In a Feb. 9 announcement, Motion — formerly Motion Specialties — described Sage Seniors’ Resources as “a well-established retail business located at the Market Mall in Saskatoon, which was founded in 1997 by Shirley Porter, a trained nurse who recognized a gap in compassionate and trustworthy support and services related to medical supplies and mobility equipment for the aging population in Saskatoon.”

Porter has also been developing a mobility service dog training program.

“It has been a great honor to serve my community along with the Sage Seniors’ Resources team over the last 25 years, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with Motion to enhance the infrastructure and resources of this business in support of our valued clients,” said Porter. “As it remains my passion to provide help to those in need, I look forward to exploring how I can redirect my expertise, knowing that the business will now be a part of Motion’s network of skilled and caring experts.”

Thecla Sweeney, Motion’s CEO and Executive Chair, said the new acquisition will fit well into Motion’s overall mission.

“Given Motion’s focus to expand our home accessibility solutions with our Safe at Home program, the acquisition of Sage Seniors’ Resources provides a unique opportunity to connect with seniors through this well-established retail business,” Sweeney explained. “Now with three locations in Saskatoon, we are positioned to provide individuals with mobility, accessibility, and medical equipment needs with the most comprehensive offering and expertise in the province.”

Motion now has 51 locations across five Canadian provinces.
