Beijing Paralympics Begins Next Week

Get ready for sledge hockey. Plus skiing (Alpine and Nordic) and snowboarding. And of course, curling.

On Feb. 21, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee named 67 athletes to the 2022 American Paralympic Team that will compete in Beijing. The United States is sending competitors in Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, curling, sledge hockey, and snowboarding.

Canada will send 49 athletes to compete in sledge hockey, Nordic and Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, curling, and snowboarding.

The opening ceremony is March 4, with competition starting March 5 and ending March 13.

Oksana Masters and Aaron Pike, both competing in Nordic skiing, are now six-time American Paralympians. American Laurie Stephens, Alpine skiing, is competing in her fifth Paralympic Games. Twenty-six members of the U.S. team have earned Paralympic medals in previous Games.

In the United States, fans can watch the Games on NBC, Peacock, the Olympic Channel, or the USA Network. NBCUniversal is presenting more than 230 hours of Paralympics coverage, and all events will be streamed on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com.
