The BOUNDER 450 power wheelchair from 21st Century Scientific is now HCPCS coded.
BOUNDER 450
In a May 3 news announcement, the manufacturer said the power chair, with a weight capacity of 450 lbs., is coded K0862, the HCPCS code for Group 3 heavy-duty, multiple power option, sling/sold seat/back, with a weight capacity of 301 to 450 lbs.
In the announcement, 21st Century Scientific noted, “Now, users up to 450 lbs. have a much-needed heavy-duty power wheelchair option. The BOUNDER 450 has a standard top speed of 6.0 mph. Users can opt for either a high-speed package of up to 8.0 mph or an off-road tire package for navigating challenging terrain.”
The BOUNDER 450 comes standard with four-wheel independent suspension that keeps all wheels in contact with the ground to improve traction — a benefit particularly when driving over uneven terrain. The seating team can choose from LiNX or R-net electronics. Powered seating options include tilt, recline and 8 inches of seat elevation, with all seating systems “designed and reinforced for users up to 450 lbs.”
A power elevating center-mount footboard or dual independent power legrests can also be installed.
21st Century Scientific said, “While the BOUNDER is very capable outdoors, its compact design makes it very maneuverable indoors, as well.”
BOUNDER 450 accessories include a powerful lighting package (3800 lumens with two headlights), a loud horn, an electric leg bag emptier, and a rearview mirror.
