Motion, the national mobility/home accessibility provider in Canada, has a new CEO.
Sue Gilpin
In a May 5 news announcement, the company said Sue Gilpin has taken over for former CEO Thecla Sweeney.
Sweeney, who has been Motion’s Executive Chair and CEO for four years, remains on the company’s board of directors.
Gilpin -- who became Motion’s Senior Director, People and Operations West in 2018 -- will take over CEO duties immediately. The announcement called her “a natural fit” for her new position.
“This appointment is a strong vote of confidence for me and Motion’s leadership team,” Gilpin said in the announcement. “Collectively, we have the right skill set, knowledge, and experience internally to make this a smooth transition and carry on the business plan that we have built together with Thecla over the last four years.”
Gilpin is a veteran human resources executive, with more than 20 years of experience at organizations including Staples Canada and Golf Town. She is a Certified Human Resources Leader through the Human Resources Professionals Association, as well as a Certified Compensation Professional, Certified Benefits Professional, and Certified Global Remuneration Professional through the World at Work Professional Association.
Motion, formerly Motion Specialties, provides mobility assistive technology and home accessibility products to clients in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
