Ki Mobility Launches Axiom AS & ASP Cushions

Ki Mobility’s family of Axiom seat cushions has grown again.

Two wheelchair seat cushions, both with black covers.

In a May 16 news announcement, the manufacturer introduced the Axiom AS and ASP, which Ki Mobility described as the “first field-adjustable, lightweight fluid cushions on the market! Now, getting the optimum fit the first time is as easy as sitting.”

The AS and ASP cushions, Ki Mobility said, incorporate “a patented, self-adjusting fluid system that uses a rider’s body weight and physical characteristics to control the amount of immersion and envelopment within the cushion. The cushion allows the femurs, trochanters, and ischia to all be independently loaded, creating optimal pressure distribution and maximum stability.”

When the desired fitting is achieved, “the adjustment can be locked in,” the announcement added. “The fitting can be readjusted if needs change, but refitting solely for maintenance is unnecessary.”

Ki Mobility described the cushions’ Hydrolite fluid as “incredibly lightweight and less sensitive to temperature, maintaining performance consistency regardless of climate.”

Surface tension, Ki Mobility added, is significantly reduced thanks to the cushions’ “super four-way stretch, Lycra outer cover material,” which provides improved immersion. The cushions also feature a dense layer of reticulated foam under a layer of spacer fabric “to allow superior airflow and moisture control.”
