The Professional Standards Board (PSB) of RESNA has presented the 2022 draft revision of the organization’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
In a June 1 announcement, RESNA said the goal of the revision “was to clarify, reorganize/increase efficiency, and address challenges that have arisen in applying the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice in recent years. The revisions are not intended to increase the difficulty of maintaining RESNA advanced credentials. Rather, by adding clarity, the PSB anticipates that RESNA members, RESNA ATPs [Assistive Technology Professionals], SMS [Seating and Mobility Specialist], and RET [Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist] certificants and members of the public will better understand the expectations of conduct for RESNA advanced credential holders and the steps needed to demonstrate compliance.”
RESNA is inviting comments via online survey through July 29. For reference, RESNA has posted the draft of the revised standards, and the current Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Questions about the comment process or the draft of revisions can be sent to Liz Dombrowski, RESNA Certification Manager.
