Bringing a Famous Wheelchair Home
A London museum dedicated to Florence Nightingale is working to raise £12,000 ($14,494 American) to bring home a customized mahogany-and-iron wheelchair once used by the nursing pioneer and statistician. The wheelchair, used by Nightingale after the Crimean War, currently resides at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University, which is donating it to the museum.
