Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) veteran Perry Loh, founder of Loh Medical, has announced his retirement, as a new CEO takes over.
In an April news announcement, Loh Medical introduced Alvaro Ramirez, who took over the CEO position on April 24.
Loh Medical was described in the announcement as being a leading provider of assistive technology to Latin America and the Caribbean. Ramirez has served as General Manager of Loh Medical Colombia and as COO of Loh Medical.
The announcement said Ramirez has more than 20 years in the assistive technology industry, and that his appointment “comes at an exciting time for Loh Medical, as the company continues its mission to provide mobility and independence for people with physical disabilities. With over 200,000 patients served in more than 24 countries, Loh Medical has earned a reputation as a trusted leader in the field.”
Ramirez added in the announcement, “I am delighted about the appointment and the upcoming projects we will be focusing on. There are many opportunities to continue developing the company
and increasing our marketshare. We have an incredibly talented team, and together I am eager to see what we will accomplish in this next chapter.”
Meanwhile, Perry Loh said he would continue to serve on the Loh Medical board of directors, and continues to serve on the board of the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).
Loh was first elected to the RESNA board in 2020 and currently serves as the conference chair for RESNA’s annual event, taking place in July in New Orleans.
In a February interview on the RESNA Web site, Loh said about his beginnings in CRT, “I do not have a clinical background, but wanted to help people with physical disabilities in Latin America with mobility and independence. As I learned more, I joined RESNA and became ATP certified. I developed a passion for applying technology, sometimes very simple technology, to improve people’s lives.”
As for the upcoming RESNA meeting, Loh said, “Beg, borrow or steal to attend the 2023 RESNA Conference in New Orleans in July. Introduce yourself to me and to as many others as possible. You will be greeted with open arms. Connect with colleagues, learn about other disciplines, find a career mentor. If you reach out, you will not be disappointed.”
