Braun Corp. Becomes BraunAbility

February 1, 2007 by Mobility Management

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ù Braun Corp., one of the leading names in the adaptive automotive industry, announced it was changing its name to BraunAbility. The news came amidst much fanfare at last week’s National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) conference.

BraunAbility is also celebrating 35 years in business, a milestone touted on its Web site (www.braunmobility.com) along with its new moniker. On the Web site’s opening page, the BraunAbility name and logo ù which resembles a stylized capital B in the shape of a winding road ù is accompanied by the tagline “Because Life Is a Moving Experience!”

At the automotive access industry’s premier event, Braun officials explained the name change was partly due to the wide range of common definitions of “mobility.” Used in this industry to describe adaptive automotive equipment as well as systems such as wheelchairs and scooters, “mobility” is used by other industries to describe portable communications or technology systems, such as cell phones and computer storage drives.
