Braun Corp. has made what it terms a “substantial investment” in Viewpoint Mobility LLC.
A news announcement described Viewpoint (viewpointmobility.com) as specializing in wheelchair-accessible minivans with rear-entry designs, while “Braun has had a stronger focus on wheelchair vans with side-entry configurations.”
Tom Eastman, Braun’s CFO, said in the announcement, “The addition of Vision conversions to our existing line of lowered floor vehicles provides a more complete line of lowered-floor vans, specifically with more options in the low-cost/low-price-point segment. Overall for us, this acquisition means a broader product line, increased production capacity, and opportunities to expand the commercial applications of our vehicles as well as our geographic reach.”
Eastman added, “For mobility customers, this acquisition means more options and greater affordability.”
He said Viewpoint would continue to operate in Kalamazoo, Mich., its current location.
“The facility will be a subsidiary,” Eastman said, “and will continue to sell Vision products through an existing network of Viewpoint Mobility dealers, as well as through the BraunAbility (braunability.com) dealer network.”
