Registration Open for NPIAP’s Virtual September Symposium
Registration is now open for the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel’s (NPIAP) virtual seating symposium on Sept. 22.
The symposium — Seated or Supine: Considerations for Patient Pressure Injury Prevention Across the Healthcare Continuum — is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. In an Aug. 16 bulletin, the NPIAP said, “This symposium will provide immediately actionable information for healthcare providers and caregivers that care for patients with pressure injuries across the entire care spectrum.”
Educational sessions include Seating 101; Shear & Bed Positioning; Support Surface Terminology — Low Air Loss; Role of PT/OT in PI Prevention in the Acute Care Setting; Post-Op Considerations; Lived Experience Perspective; and Tips & Tricks for the Home Caregiver.
Speakers listed for the symposium include Ana Endsjo, OT; David Brienza, Ph.D.; Michelle Deppisch, PT, CWS, FACCWS; Stephanie Slayton, PT, DPT, CWS, CLT-LANA; Stephanie Woefel, PT, DPT, CWS; and Laurie Rappl, PT, DPT, CWS.
Online registration ($75) is available until Sept. 22.
Accessible Playground Watch: Let’s Go!
Among the accessible playgrounds opening this summer are the first in the city of Tulsa, Okla., which opened July 14; one at Warner Park in Wisconsin, which had its ribbon-cutting on Aug. 15; and one at Louis F. Adado Riverfront Park due to open in mid-September.
