Abilities International Accessibility Conference Wraps for 2026, Announces 2027 Dates

The inaugural round of Abilities International Accessibility conferences is done, with the final 2026 event wrapping up on June 12 in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The professional conference series — whose educational partners included the University of Pittsburgh, the Clinician Task Force, the Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America, the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists, U.S. Rehab, and the National Coalition for Assistive Rehab Technology — kicked off in March in Long Beach, California. That was followed by an April conference in Edison, New Jersey, and the June event in Schaumburg.

All three professional conferences were co-located with the consumer-focused Abilities Expo. In a message to attendees after Schaumburg, Raccoon Media Group’s Katy Roberts, the managing director USA of the Abilities Expo and the new professional conference series, described the conferences as “a season of learning, connection and innovation.”

Roberts also announced 2027 professional conference dates: Long Beach (Jan. 14-16, 2027); New York Metro (April 29-30, 2027); and Chicago (June 10-11, 2027).

“With new speakers, fresh content, hands-on learning, CEU opportunities, and valuable networking, we’re excited to continue bringing the accessibility and CRT community together,” Roberts said in her announcement.

CSMS Celebrates 40th Anniversary in September

The Canadian Seating & Mobility Conference, presented by VGM Canada, will celebrate its 40th anniversary when the event welcomes Complex Rehab Technology professionals to Toronto, Sept. 15-16.

“For over four decades, the Canadian Seating & Mobility Conference (CSMC) has been recognized as one of the country’s most influential and respected clinical education events, bringing together occupational therapists, physiotherapists, assistive technology professionals, researchers, suppliers and manufacturers committed to advancing mobility and accessibility care across Canada,” VGM Canada said in a June 12 announcement. “This year’s conference will feature an exceptional lineup of key industry partners, including Amylior, Pride Mobility, Permobil, Sunrise Medical, Etac and more than 50 exhibitors.”

“These organizations continue to innovate and shape the future of seating and mobility solutions, and their presence at CSMC ensures attendees will experience the latest advancements, hands-on demonstrations and meaningful clinical discussions,” said Dave Davies, president of VGM Canada.

CSMC is launching Kids Zone at the 2026 show, “an interactive space designed specifically for pediatric mobility and rehab. This engaging area will welcome children and families, pediatric therapists and clinicians, and rehab providers and equipment specialists.”

“We are excited to introduce the Kids Zone at the show this year,” Davies added. “This dedicated space will focus entirely on families’ and children’s needs, featuring top pediatric product suppliers. It’s a fresh, outside-the-box initiative for us, but we feel it is a crucial step forward in making our event more inclusive, supportive, and impactful for everyone.”
