CMS Adds Inclusion Body Myositis ICD-10 Code for Seating Considerations
The National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology (NCART) has reported that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has added the ICD-10 code for inclusion body myositis (G72.41) to the Group 2 and Group 4 lists for consideration for a skin protection and/or positioning wheelchair cushions and wheelchair seating options.
NCART reported the new code addition in its November legislative update.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association describes inclusion body myositis as “one of the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, a group of muscle diseases that involves inflammation of the muscles or associated tissues.” The condition causes progressive weakening of muscles in the wrists, fingers and front of thighs, as well as the muscles that lift the front of the foot.
I AM ALS Debuts Caregiver Website
The nonprofit I AM ALS has launched a resource designed especially for those caring for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and frontotemporal dementia.
The new Calling All Caregivers website provides resources and a safe space for caregivers to share their experiences, frustrations and hopes … and for people living with neurodegenerative diseases to give shout outs to family and friends.
I AM ALS introduced the new website as part of National Family Caregivers Month in November.
