CMS Announces Medicare Part B Premium, Deductible Increases for 2026
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the standard monthly premium for Medicare Part B enrollees will be $202.90 in 2026. The annual deductible for all Medicare Part B beneficiaries will be $283.
That’s an increase of $17.90 for the monthly premium and an increase of $26 for the deductible.
The Nov. 14 announcement from CMS described the higher rates as “mainly due to projected price changes and assumed utilization increases that are consistent with historical experience.”
The announcement added, “If the Trump Administration had not taken action to address unprecedented spending on skin substitutes, the Part B premium increase would have been about $11 more a month. However, due to changes finalized in the 2026 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, spending on skin substitutes is expected to drop by 90% without affecting patient care.”
New Mobility Launches Campaign to Revive Print Editions
New Mobility has launched a campaign to raise $100,000 to revive its print edition.
The consumer publication — which focuses on living with spinal cord injury — premiered in 1989 and was acquired by United Spinal Association in 2010.
In July 2024, New Mobility announced its last print issue would be the November-December 2024 edition.
The publication said in a Nov. 19 announcement that it was working to print its issues again “because print magazines are a valuable, tangible resource that reach members of our community in places that digital doesn’t. We were able to raise enough to put together a special print issue earlier this year. The heartening response showed us the demand for print issues, and it reaffirmed our belief that re-establishing them is essential to our mission.”
The announcement added that New Mobility has primarily been funded by United Spinal: “Recently though, post-pandemic economic hardships have reduced nonprofit budgets everywhere and made it harder to sustain the kind of authentic, necessary and increasingly expensive storytelling that defines New Mobility.”
The fundraiser was timed to coincide with Giving Tuesday, held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encourage generosity worldwide.
