Briefly: ISS Opens 2025 Registration; Easterseals Launches Mental Health Assessment Tool
Featuring the University of Pittsburgh RSTCE and Easterseals.

November 11, 2024 by Laurie Watanabe

ISS 2025 Registration Now Open

General registration is now open for the 2025 International Seating Symposium (ISS), March 20-22 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pre-conference workshops will take place March 19.

The ISS hotel block is also open for reservations. The symposium is operated by the University of Pittsburgh’s Rehabilitation Science and Technology Continuing Education (RSTCE) group.

Next year’s ISS, taking place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, will feature Community Day on March 19 for wheeled mobility consumers and their families. The 2025 ISS will also host a new Hands-On Zone, described as “a brand-new, interactive exhibitor space for the 39th ISS. This area will feature different terrain, thresholds and obstacles for mobility device users to navigate.”

Easterseals Introduces Free Online Mental Health Screening Tool

Seating and wheeled mobility professionals are frequently exposed to a range of difficult situations on the job, from seeing clients’ conditions worsen as time goes on, to working with clients living in abusive or neglectful environments.

A new Easterseals screening tool, now available nationwide, can be a first step in assessing mental health.

“Mental health is a deeply personal issue, and people who are struggling often find it difficult or are reluctant to find the help they need,” said Kendra Davenport, Easterseals’ president and CEO. “We recognize that Easterseals has a leadership role in addressing the nation’s mental health crisis and have intensified our focus by increasing the number of Americans who receive mental health treatment and support. We’re proud to collaborate with Mental Health America to bring this free and anonymous tool online through our national website so more people can access services and receive care.”

People using the screening tool are given links to national resources, including an Easterseals call center that can locate local services.
