Briefly: Ki Mobility Streamlines Ordering; Honda to Debut UNI-ONE
Featuring Ki Mobility and Honda.

February 28, 2024 by Laurie Watanabe

Ki Mobility Launches Axiom Express Order Form

Ki Mobility has launched a streamlined order form for Axiom Custom Seating (ACS).

The new five-page form “offers our most popular ACS selections, saving you time by enabling you to configure your next ACS order faster and in fewer steps,” the Stevens Point-based seating and mobility manufacturer said in a Feb. 28 bulletin. “Plus, with the addition of Axiom Softgoods” — contained on an additional three-page form — “the new form provides a true one-stop solution.”

Honda UNI-ONE to Debut at SXSW

Honda UNI-ONE personal mobility device.

Honda, inventor of the now-retired ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) robot, will debut its UNI-ONE personal mobility device at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin, Texas, in March.

While the UNI-ONE does have some features that hint at complex seating and wheeled mobility — seat elevation, for example — Honda has not positioned the device as a power wheelchair or for people with complex mobility-related disabilities. Instead, Honda has broadly said the UNI-ONE could “support people who are not confident in walking for long periods of time in various facilities” in addition to children and adults of all ages.

The UNI-ONE is steered via body movement — think of a wheelchair athlete changing direction by leaning in an ultralightweight chair — rather than by joystick or other electronics. Honda described this as “hands-free personal mobility.”

Honda introduced the UNI-ONE in September 2023, while the SXSW introduction was announced in a press release on Feb. 28.
