munevo has announced a new partnership with Permobil for its DRIVE system, a smartglasses alternative driving control for power wheelchairs.
“In this partnership, we combine our technologies to offer people a new dimension of freedom and self-determination – for greater mobility, participation, and quality of life,” munevo said in a July 2 announcement. “We have exclusive partnerships in France, Italy and Switzerland, while we operate in non-exclusive partnerships in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and Germany, ensuring that as many people as possible can benefit from this innovative combination.”
“At munevo, we want to improve the independence of people with mobility impairments through innovative solutions,” CEO Claudiu Hidas said in the announcement. “The partnership with Permobil enables us to make our technologies accessible to an even wider audience.”
The munevo hands-free alternative driving control works via head movements. The company is based in Munich, Germany, and has American offices in New York.
Neuralink Receives CoreNest Capital Support
Neuralink, which creates brain-computer interfaces to enable direct neural control of a range of devices, is one of 10 companies to receive investment support from CoreNest Capital, a Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based venture capital firm.
“We’re living through a technological supercycle where yesterday’s playbooks are obsolete,” said Bob Ras, CoreNest Capital’s general partner and cofounder in a July 7 news announcement. “This era belongs to the builders who rethink what’s possible and move fast enough to make it real. At CoreNest, we don’t chase hype. We fund the foundations. The future doesn’t just happen. It gets architected.”
In May, ALS News Today reported that Brad Smith, who has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), had become the first person with the condition to receive a Neuralink brain implant as part of a clinical trial. Smith later posted a video to X that explained the process.
Other investment recipients included Cheddr, a social sports gaming platform; Orbit Fab, offering in-space refueling services to extend satellite missions; and Ottonomy, autonomous delivery robots for airports and retail spaces.
