NCART Adds State-Specific Advocacy Info to Website
The National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology (NCART) has added state-specific Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) information to its website.
Using information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), NCART and U.S. Rehab’s single-page state resources list the diagnoses typically requiring CRT, as well as CRT services — including preventive maintenance for CRT equipment and commuting time for repair technicians to reach the client’s home — “not recognized by CMS [Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services] and insurance.”
State-specific information includes the number of adults living with disabilities; the number who have a mobility-related disability; and the number of state residents who use CRT.
NMEDA Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees
The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) inducted three long-time mobility industry professionals into the organization’s Hall of Fame during its October conference.
The three new members are Michael Dresdner, Darrell Heath, and Marilyn Myers.
Dresdner, now retired, is past president and owner of HDS Vans & Mobility, a mobility dealership that was founded in Georgia and grew to serve people with disabilities in several additional southeastern states.
Heath founded Ability Center, a mobility dealership that also provided Complex Rehab Technology for many years, in Southern California. Ability Center grew to serve mobility drivers and passengers in several western states. Heath passed away in 2020.
Myers served NMEDA in various administrative and operational roles for 27 years before transitioning to “a supporting consultant role with NMEDA” earlier this year, the association noted.
In an Oct. 18 social media post, NMEDA said, “These individuals dedicated their careers and lives to our industry, making profound contributions that have shaped the landscape of mobility and accessibility. Their passion, innovation, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on our community.”
