Michael J. Fox Foundation Seeks More Participants for Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is signing up adult volunteers in the United States and Canada to take a free scratch-and-sniff test.
In a May 7 announcement, the organization said it’s seeking volunteers who have not been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and are 40 years old or older; and people who are at least 30 years old and have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the past seven years.
Potential participants are directed to sign up for an account with the foundation and are asked demographic questions. People who qualify for the study will be mailed a scratch-and-sniff test that they will be asked to complete and return to the organization.
The study, the foundation said, seeks to better understand the link between the sense of smell and brain health.
