U.S. Rehab to Host In-Person Reimbursement Seminars
U.S. Rehab’s Dan Fedor and VGM’s Ronda Buhrmeister are hitting the road to present their seminar, “Forensic Denials DME 2024.”
The in-person events will be held March 7 in Seattle; April 18 in Hartford, Conn.; and Sept. 12 in Minneapolis.
In the Feb. 5 seminar announcement, U.S. Rehab said Buhrmeister and Fedor “will lead participants in the review of challenging claim denials, treating them as forensic cases. Together with attendees as witnesses, they will reconstruct the scenes of prior authorization requests and claim submissions, investigating each one to determine if errors were innocent, intentional, or possibly more sinister.”

Brandeis University to Study Disparities in Pregnancy Care for Black, Latina Women with Disabilities
The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., has been awarded a four-year National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to study disparities in pregnancy care and outcomes among Black and Latina women who have physical disabilities.
The Institute said in the news announcement, “The generous $2 million award will support our work on the intersection of disability with race and ethnicity, specifically regarding perinatal experiences and health outcomes.”
In a Feb. 9 call for participants, United Spinal Association, who is working with The Lurie Institute, said, “This study will help us to understand how both disability and race affected your pregnancy, which can help improve the pregnancy experience for others. If you are Black/African American and/or Latinx/Latina or Hispanic, have a physical disability, and have given birth in the last 10 years, we’d like to interview you.”
