A group of veteran HME suppliers in Canada has formed the Ability Members Group, a network created to leverage the group’s buying power.
There are 12 HME businesses with a total of 17 store locations “from British Columbia to New Brunswick,” according to a June 12 news announcement.
Founder Stan Murray pointed out that HME industry sales are worth an annual total of $500 million to $550 million Canadian.
Murray said these original companies “are committed to the vision that our network of dealers will continue to grow as more HME store owners realize the value of our collective buying power that affords discounted prices and financial stability to members.”
Group members pay monthly dues based on their annual sales.
“Our core group is also adamant about keeping the national network as simple and transparent as possible,” Murray said. “To ensure that happens, we have assembled an experienced board of directors, the majority of whom are HME dealers in our network.”
The original group members are Ability in Motion (Abbotsford, British Columbia); MEDmobility North and MEDmobility South (Edmonton, Alberta); Prairie Heart Mobility (Moose Jaw and Regina, Saskatchewan); HomEquip (Winnipeg, Manitoba); Brandon Mobility (Brandon and Portage, Manitoba); MEDability Healthcare Solutions (Markham, Ontario); Access Abilities (Etobicoke and Oakville, Ontario); Precision Home Medical Equipment (London, Ontario); Home Health Smiths Falls (Smiths Falls, Ontario); Valley Mobility Inc. (Pembroke, Ontario); Mobility2Home (Sudbury, Ontario); and Apollo Medical (Fredericton and Saint John, New Brunswick).
