Carbon Launches Wheelchair Seating Website
The 3D-printing technology company has entered the wheelchair cushion industry.

September 12, 2025 by Laurie Watanabe

Carbon, a 3D printing company with American offices in Redwood City, California, has launched a wheelchair seating segment for its website.

The new wheelchair cushion site explains the benefits and features of 3D printing, including breathability, ease of cleaning, customizability and comfort.

Take a deeper dive to learn about elastomeric materials; read about Carbon Design Engine software that enables designers to create customized cushions; explore how Carbon Custom Production software can apply design programs from pressure maps or other sources to create cushions; and to find a partner in global Carbon’s Production Network who can work with you to design, develop and produce seating products.

Sign up to receive the Carbon Guide to Designing for Comfort, watch a quick video on the properties of Carbon 3D-printed wheelchair cushions, and check out the blog post “Behind the Scenes: A Fun Demo with Cushions and Infrared Cameras” (spoiler alert: ‘One hot plastic butt’ is involved).”

You can also browse the rest of the Carbon site to view the company’s projects in other fields, including Olympic rowing, dentistry, bicycle saddles, sports helmets (football, hockey, cycling), footwear, and sports gloves (baseball and boxing).
