When Mobility Management was acquired last fall by WTWH Media, our Complex Rehab Technology publication gained a large number of health-care sister publications, including Home Health Care News, Senior Housing News, Skilled Nursing News, and Hospice News.
And there are also WTWH’s The Robot Report and The Mobile Robot Guide, which are exactly what you’d expect and want them to be: all about robotics, both real-world happening-today robots and dare-to-dream-and-anticipate robots.
For example, The Mobile Robot Guide — whose tagline is “Accelerating the Adoption of Mobile Robots” — recently published this story about Hello Robot’s Stretch 3 mobile manipulator robot, which has a rotating 3D camera “designed for perception functions and observing the environment around the robot,” said Editor Mike Oitzman. (I’m happy to say we’re now coworkers!)
“Stretch 3,” Mike added, “empowers a growing community of developers to create a future in which friendly robots fold laundry, feed pets, support older adults, and enhance life in new ways, according to Hello Robot. If there is a ‘secret sauce’ to the go-to market plan for Stretch, it has to be the vibrant research community that has grown to support the platform.”
If that isn’t enough crossover for you, consider that Charlie Kemp, Hello Robot’s co-founder and chief technology officer, “was a professor at Georgia Tech University and brought the research credibility and connections that fueled the initial development of Stretch,” Mike wrote. “His robotics laboratory at Georgia Tech deployed the first few versions of the robot and put it through its paces as a research platform.”
Expect more health-care and assistive technology-related stories to appear in both Robot publications. Mike has promised to share robotics stories with us as he publishes them.
