Commentary: New Webinar Asks What Seating Clinicians Most Want
Kathy SanMartino, Amber Ward and Angie Kiger headline our Sept. 22 discussion.

September 16, 2026 by Laurie Watanabe

I’m a big believer in dreaming — not necessarily as a way to manifest what I want in the world, but as a crucial first step to developing better outcomes and figuring out how to achieve them. That process always starts with “Wouldn’t it be great if …?”

That’s why I’m so looking forward to our new Sept. 22 editorial webinar, “The Future of Seating,” an hour-long conversation sponsored by Carbon.

I asked three longtime seating clinicians what they most want from the next generation of seating technology — in particular, what functions they want new technology to support, and what they think would be most helpful to wheelchair riders.

Tackling this topic are panelists Angie Kiger, M.Ed., ATP/SMS; Kathy SanMartino, PT, ATP/SMS, MSCS, CLT; and Amber Ward, MS, OTR/L, BCPR, ATP/SMS, FAOTA.

We’ll talk about supporting pressure relief adherence; connected systems and smart data integration; cushion material innovations; and improving function with less compromise.

And our hour-long webinar, free to attend, will include a live Q&A session with our panelists. Register for the live event and you’ll also get access to the recorded webinar that you can access on demand.

We’ll offer certificates of attendance to registrants who attend at least 50 minutes of the webinar, either live or on demand.

I can’t wait to talk to Kathy, Amber and Angie on Tuesday, Sept. 22, starting at 12 noon Eastern time. I hope you’ll join us for a candid conversation on what the future of seating will be like!
